The dance program focuses on individual growth by using dance as a vehicle for the student's creative expression. The curriculum provides technical training based on anatomical integrity, Laban movement analysis, career development, and progressive learning as outlined in the National Standards for Dance Education. The student will be exposed to aesthetic criteria, choreographic principles, multicultural perspectives and dance history, as well as a healthy attitude toward the body. Performance allows new avenues for artistic expression which encompasses creating, practicing, working with others and producing concerts.

The faculty encourages a supportive and nurturing atmosphere that fosters integration of body and mind to develop the student's potential, self esteem, and ability to create meaningful connections within the community. In this safe environment the act of creating and processing material allows a new awareness of self to emerge.

Facility & Technology - Facilities include two performance spaces; a black box theatre and a main stage theatre with advanced lighting and sound system. A state-of-the-art video recording studio is available for archival footage.

Residency - Residencies bring in renowned guest artists to provide students an opportunity to work with professionals in the dance field. Students will be exposed to new approaches that extend beyond the classroom.

Career Opportunities - Students will learn about numerous career opportunities in the realm of dance including performance, production, and college study.

Performance - There is a formal concert presented in the evening for the community every semester. Throughout the year students perform in dance festivals, community events, and informal performances. Experience with performance is an essential part of mastering the art form.

Field Trips - Students will travel to locations outside of school including local colleges to perform and participate in workshops, and observe professional dance companies.
